COMCAST AND TIVO DEMONSTRATE INTEGRATED DVR SERVICE AT CES

Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA, CMCSK), the nation’s leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services, and TiVo Inc. (NASDAQ: TIVO), the creator of and leader in television services for digital video recorders (DVRs), are demonstrating a new TiVo® service for Comcast DVRs at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The companies began trialing the TiVo service for Comcast DVRs in late 2006.

I’ll definitely be checking this out at their booth. The press release doesn’t talk about network features, just that the platform combines the TiVo interface, HD recording, and Comcast’s OnDemand services, and that it will be deployed to boxes in the field without a technician’s visit.

The question is, will all tivo features be included? Otherwise, all their customers will feel like idiots for buying the boxes. :)

I doubt all of the features are included. Especially broadband video content – Comcast would want you to use the included OnDemand functionality.

But I’ll see what I find out.

If they don’t say how much it costs and when it will be available…. Yawn…
