The site is now running completely within WordPress. All of the formerly static XHTML pages have been moved into WordPress as ‘Pages’. I’m now using WordPress both as the blog and as a CMS for the site. I’ve edited all of the navigation links to point to the new page locations, and I’ve also setup mod_rewrite to redirect any links to the old pages. (Wouldn’t want to break any bookmarks, links from other sites, and search results.)
From my logs I see a lot of people are still hitting www.tivolovers.com/site.rss, www.tivolovers.com/data/rss, www.tivolovers.com/data/atom, blog.tivolovers.com/data/rss, and blog.tivolovers.com/data/atom. Note that all of those are obsolete. I’m redirecting them to the new URLs, but the best solution is to update your readers. If you were using those feeds as the LJ Community feed, that’s why you started getting the WordPress feed instead.
As previously posted, these are the new URLs:
Site updates: http://www.gizmolovers.com/category/site-updates/feed/
TiVo category only: http://www.gizmolovers.com/category/tivo/feed/
Full blog feed: http://www.gizmolovers.com/feed/
LJ community feed: http://community.livejournal.com/tivolovers/data/rss
Which reminds me, I’ve also set blog.tivolovers.com to redirect to www.tivolovers.com, it no longer points to the LJ Community. I do have mod_rewrite handling some LJ-specific URLs to accommodate many of the links. For example, links to a specific post will redirect, as well as the profile, friends page, etc.
Things should be pretty stable now, as the major work is done. I still have cleanup to do on the 2006 & 2007 posts, but that’s not heavy lifting, just tedious.
If you catch any links on the site still pointing to the old URLs, or encounter any other problems, please let me know.
And if there is some WordPress Plug-in I really need to check out, send me a pointer. For that matter, if anyone knows a solution to get the WP-Cache2 and WordPress Mobile Edition plug-ins playing well with each other, I’d love to hear it. If you enable caching the mobile edition stops working. Right now I have caching off. Currently I’m running Akismet, Get Recent Comments, Google Analyticator, PJW WordPress Version Check, Simple Trackback Validation, Sociable, Spam Viewer, Subscribe To Comments, Viper’s Video Quicktags, WordPress Mobile Edition, WP-Cache, and WP-Stats. I also have AddThis Sidebar Widget and Cryptographp installed, but currently deactivated.
