Engadget has an entry on two new Hitachi Blu-ray camcorders coming soon. Both the DZ-BD70 and DZ-BD7H pack an 8cm BD drive for recording full HD resolution directly to Blu-ray, and the DZ-BD7H adds a 30GB hard drive for added recording capacity. Both also have HDMI and USB 2.0 ports for connecting to your other devices. Check out Engadget’s post for a photo gallery. Looks pretty good.
On the other side, it looks like Toshiba has a 3rd generation of HD DVD players coming out in October. Amazon spilled the beans, but seems to have yanked the pages. The three moels are the HD-A3, HD-A30 and HD-A35 which will list for $299, $399 and $499 respectively. The HD-A3 will only output 720p and 1080i, while the more expensive units will also output 1080p. Format War Central picked it up first, then EngadgetHD picked it up from there.
