The TiVo® Newsletter | Volume 120 | Letter From the Editor Only moments ago, in an attempt to get in a Summer Games sort of mood (Summer Olympics in Beijing commences August 8!), I searched for my favorite Mary Lou Retton moment on… where else? YouTube™ on TiVo! That’s right—I felt like a gold-medal winner myself, beckoning Mary into my 21st century living room, using just my TiVo remote, and watching her nail perfect 10s on the balance beam, on the vaults and on the floor. If you haven’t tried YouTube™ on TiVo yet, what are you waiting for? You can browse Top Favorites, Most Viewed, or Top Rated—and you can view videos uploaded today, this week, in the past 30 days, or the most-viewed all time. Personally, I prefer the thrill of a random “Search,” and am getting a real kick out of couchtime in the living room, giving everyone a turn at the remote to share their favorite YouTube™ video of the week. (You should send me yours so I can share them in the next TiVo newsletter!) Learn more. If you’re ready for an adventure in short-attention-span home theater, just follow these directions: From TiVo Central, go to: > Find Programs & Downloads > Download TV, Movies, & Web Video > YouTube To the revolution of dance—and TiVo, Shanan | |

TiVo Tip: Summer Games on Your Own Time10,500 athletes. 302 events on the program. It’s time for The Summer Olympics in Beijing—but who has time to figure out what’s on when, especially when you’ve got round-the-clock television coverage for 18 consecutive days to contend with… Good thing you’ve got a TiVo® DVR. The Summer Games TiVo Guide makes it easy for you to schedule recordings for the events you want to watch (and re-watch!). Categorized by sport, the Guide also makes it easy to find programming related to the Game ceremonies—or if you’re an intellectual sports fan, programs on the history of the games. From TiVo Central > Showcases & TV Guide > “Go World” icon from the Grid. (Note: You must be broadband-connected.) Notice: Many Summer Games events are bundled as very large blocks of time (up to 12 hours). Before scheduling recordings, please be mindful of your available capacity, so as not to interfere with your previously scheduled recordings. PS – Want more about the big event? Search for Olympics and other keywords under Find TV shows on tivo.com. back to top ^ |

Once you complete your search, you can choose to “View upcoming episodes” every 14 days or so, or set it to auto-record every match. back to top ^ |

TiVo Fan Mail: Truly Remote“My best ‘TiVo rules’ example in a while? Last week I was in San Francisco for a conference, and got to go to the Oakland As vs Yankees ball game with a former coworker who moved out there this spring. As we were walking into McAfee Coliseum, I pulled out my iPhone, called up tivo.com/tco for TiVo Central Online, and told my TiVo, 3,000 miles away, to record the game I was walking into. Try THAT with your cable DVR!” — Mark A. Ithaca, New York No, we don’t make this stuff up. You send us a story or photo of your favorite TiVo moment and we make a RECORD of it – from TiVo birthday cakes to TiVo tattoos to TiVo what-have-you. back to top ^ |
