The Boeing 777 – 1,000 Strong And Growing

Boeing Logo Boeing has reached a significant milestone on the B777 program, with the 1,000th aircraft produced. And they did so faster than any other widebody program in history. To mark this milestone they’ve released a couple of nice videos. The first is a look at the precision craftsmanship that goes into each B777, and the skilled craftspeople who build them. The second is a look at the carriers who operate the triple seven, which include nine of the ten largest airlines in the world. The B777 is a remarkable aircraft and there’s nothing else on the market quite like it today.

EDIT: Boeing released an HD version of the ‘Precision Craftsmanship’ video:

    Congratulations
Boeing. I travelled on the 777 several times, and it’s definitely my favorite
aircraft to fly on. Well done!

777 a great ride agreed. But can it beat your first trip upstairs in a 747?

I’ve flown upstairs in a B747 – Business Class to Australia Boston to LA to Sydney, on the LA to Sydney leg, and the return.  I can’t remember the airline now, it was back in 1999.  It was quite a nice experience, but I think the passenger experience has more to do with the interior choices the airline makes when fitting out the cabin.  I’m sure the are B777s with nicer cabins than many B747s, and vice-versa.  I’ve never had the scratch to pay for, or worked for an employer willing to pay for, a true first class experience on a transpacific flight.  Though I’d certainly like to do it someday.
